The College plans continue to centre around a total rebuild of the school – the new building catering for 1200 11-16 students and a further 370 sixth-form students.  We are currently working on the accommodation schedule – the number and size of all the classrooms and facilities

First Word: Michael White, Shake Shack to Appear Before Community

The current facade of Michael White’s newest The Community Board 2 SLA Licensing meeting agenda is up and it’s going to be a fun one. Two heavy hitters Shake Shack Nolita and Michael White’s new space on 218 Lafayette will make their pleas, as will the operator of the old Elettaria space (to be called Salatim), the old Harbour space (to be called Parlor Club ), and the old Merkato 55 space (now Villa Pacri )

Winging my way back from Hong Kong

Filed 1/30/10: I’m sitting in the Hong Kong Airport Red Carpet Clu waiting for my flight. Security and immigration were very efficient here; even my hip didn’t seem to faze them. I still got wanded, and my bag was opened but everything was done quickly and professionally.   Sonia Liu from ACI Asia-Pacific on the cable car over the mountains

Gino Now Safe?: Lost City checks in on Gino,…

Lost City checks in on Gino , the 64 year-old Upper East Side restaurant long in danger of closing because of depleted business and a tiff with the workers union. Workers at the restaurant reported over the weekend that they aren’t planning on closing at the moment, that ” we’re still talking, but it looks good .” [LC]

The TSA goes unpunished yet again

Story from philly.com Basically a TSA officer planted a small sealable plastic bag full of white powder into a young college girls bag as she was going through security. After terrifying this poor girl and reducing her to tears he smiled while explaining that the bag was his and that it was all a joke, and that she was free to move along.

Sami’s Wrap ‘n’ Roll Opens in Jamaica Plain

A new restaurant with a familiar name has just opened in Jamaica Plain. According to various reports (including posts on Chowhound and Yelp ), Sami’s Wrap ‘n’ Roll is now open for business on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain, bringing to the neighborhood a place to get Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (although it appears that only lunch is being served for the time being – breakfast and dinner should follow soon, but call in advance to check).

ResyWire: Ready for Next Stunt, Carmellini Launches Pastapalooza Feb. 8

Back in October, Andrew Carmellini announced he would launch a series of all you can eat pasta dinners in the private dining room of Locanda Verde as a follow up to his weirdly popular fried chicken dinners in the late summer ’09. Now, the Robs report the dinners will launch in one week on Feb. 8, just a couple of weeks after his most recent black truffle deal.

The Shutter: Two Year Butcher Bay/Seymour Burton Saga Comes to an End

Butcher Bay , a short lived seafood restaurant born from the failure of another short lived and quirky comfort food spot Seymour Burton , has finally closed for good on East 5th Street. Back in 2007, Seymour Burton took over for a standby on the block, Le Tableau. It had great potential and an even better burger but was barely more than a construction zone.

More about our land.

Follow the red dots to see where we live On the third picture the black lines show the boundary of the land we have bought although it is not fenced in.  That is because it forms part of a nature reserve, the boundary of which is shown by the blue line.  The red dot on the final picture shows where our cottages are built.  To look closer, please click on the pictures (I hope that works?) We moved in this last weekend!!!!!!! before getting too excited, we are still waiting for the transfer but have been given occupation of three of the four cottages for now.  They are really in bad shape and there is going to be a ton of work for us – luckily we can do this over the next few years.  This weekend we scrubbed and washed and got rid of 80% of the dirt layers.  At least for now it is habitable. As I said in a previous post – the place looks way better with a little green (summer).  here are some summer pictures.

Grand Opening Party for Ixtapa Cantina & Pop Up Bar by Névé Ice in Bar Celona

Last December, I was invited by PR Rep, Dan Cox , to attend the Grand Opening Party for Ixtapa Cantina in Old Town Pasadena. Owner Jack Huang seems to be building a Pasadena restaurant empire because he also owns Bar Celona and Villa Sorriso and they’re all on Colorado Boulevard. This was my first time visiting this space since I’ve never been to either Fred’s Cantina or Moose McGillicuddy’s, which were previous tenants

Cemitas Party at Cemitas y Clayudas Pal Cabron

I actually first read about Cemitas y Clayudas Pal Cabron from the Teenage Gluster blog . At the time, I was actually more enthralled at the wall paintings than the food.
