Beefs: Trouble Afoot at Gottino as Jody Williams Leaves with Staff
Last week, a regular of the sweet Village bar Gottino wrote in to report that Jody Williams , its chef, has left the restaurant, saying, “I can’t confirm 100%, but I live in the neighborhood and eat in Gottino several times a week. And, alas, Jody must have done her crazy self in again, because she’s nowhere to be seen around Greenwich Ave.” Her co-owner Michael Bull, who is involved in a major lawsuit with Williams, told Eater last week that all was well, that they were working things out, that she was still “involved” and in the kitchen. It’s interesting timing actually, because their case, in which Bull accuses Williams of misappropriating $95,000, is being heard today in a New York court.

Biting Back: Mia Dona Still Not Letting Sifton’s Goose Egg Go
On Friday, it was kind of cute to see that the folks behind Mia Dona were looking on the bright side of Sam Sifton’s recent brutal goose egg review. They took the one positive quote about the place—that the meatballs are “terrific”—and put it on a dry erase sandwich board . The above bitter ‘Siftonade’ signage that now graces the restaurant is not quite as cute

Feuds: John Mariani, the Esquire critic that…
John Mariani, the Esquire critic that is lambasted in Anthony Bourdain’s upcoming book Medium Raw , has this to say about the No Reservations host : “…however concocted most of his accusations are…what is most disturbing is that Bourdain…seems to have lost all ability to construct a single paragraph without using the words ‘douche bag,’ ‘asshole,’ and ‘fuck,’ which you expect from illiterate, ever-anonymous food bloggers but not from the once-stylish Bourdain. Week in Reviews: The New Yorker Devotes Primo Review Space to Pizza in Cones
Three month’s after its opening, the gimmicky, Midtown novelty K! Pizzacone has its first real, professional review. And it’s in the New Yorker of all places. Why, when there is finite review space, would they focus on a place that was only frequented by non-tourists for about one day ?

The Polka Dot Cow: In today’s Metropolitan Diary, a New…
In today’s Metropolitan Diary, a New Yorker is stopped on the street and asked , “‘Do you know where the Polka Dot Cow is ?’ I had to admit I had never heard of it, but they persisted, adding that it was supposed to be a very good ‘burger joint.’ I thought for a bit and asked if they meant the Spotted Pig . They lit up with recognition and said, ‘Yes, that’s it!’ The three of us shared a loud laugh.” [NYT]

Went to a friend’s place last night to help eat four kilos of ham just imported from Italy – not to mention guzzle lots of bruschetta, pasta, wine, and grappa — and saw this rooftop club from the apartment window. It is between Fortune Plaza and the new China World Tower Three, and is apparently
