Most of the invitations for Fashion Week events come via email , but some of the more important ones still send something out via the mail. Since Lavo is celebrating both Fashion Week and its grand opening next week, they decided to take things just a wee bit further by sending out the invite on an engraved marble tile for the opening night blow out next Tuesday night

Today in Letter Grades: Instead of appealing their "B"…

Instead of appealing their “B” grade from the DOH and putting up a “Grade Pending” sign, Veselka in the East Village is rolling with the big B in the window, and apparently customers don’t seem to mind. Naturally, the restaurant hopes to ace future inspections, but as one of the managers told the WSJ “When you walk in, you can look around and see if it is clean enough or not clean enough.

Aero Stops Jos And Kaduna Service

Aero announced it will – effective from 1 October 2010 – discontinue its daily flights from Lagos to Jos and Kaduna. Flights into the cities were launched in November 2009, but Aero says the routes are financially not viable. Kaduna Airport is now served by Arik Air and IRS Airlines, while Arik Air and Overland Airways fly to Jos Airport.

The Lobster Stop Has Opened in Quincy

A new place that sells lobsters (and soon, other foods) has opened near the site of the former shipyard in Quincy. According to their Facebook page, The Lobster Stop is now open for business on Washington Street (Route 3A), and it will be concentrating on lobsters for now, though they do mention that there will be other types of food available, possibly by the middle of October. The Lobster Stop sells both soft shell and hard shell lobsters, as well as larger lobsters (more than 2.5 pounds).

Plywood Special: Plywood Finally Unpeeled on Jeffrey’s, Gabe Stulman’s Newest

Just this very morning, the plywood finally came down at Jeffrey’s , the new grocery, wine bar, oyster bar, and restaurant from Joseph Leonard’s Gabe Stulman . Stulman is scheduled to open the place this fall—looks like sooner rather than later—just before he debuts his revamp of the old Fedora space on West 4th Street.
