[ Krieger , 10/1/09] Here’s another little tidbit from the LaGuardia beat : Andrew Carmellini, Jim Lahey, and Jason Denton aren’t the only big guns planning to open restaurants during the second round of the LaGuardia Airport foodie overhaul . Sources reveal that Michael White has signed on to open the largest restaurant in the terminal, an Italian concept called Cotto . We hear OTG Management—the folks in charge of all of the airport’s concessions—wanted to hold the info back so they could drop a bombshell later in the year

From the Deathwatch Notebook: A tipster on the tenuous situation…
A tipster on the tenuous situation at Terrance Brennan’s Picholine : “I’m a former BOH Picholine employee…spoke with a former FOH manager there today who told me that the Pich will be closing soon ‘for the rest of the summer.’ (Yeah, right). I can also tell you that kitchen employees weren’t getting paid on occasion at least as far back as when I was there. Regardless, I thought this was interesting especially given what they’re claiming today about Bar Artisanal.

Week in Reviews: Two Stars for High End Indian at Tamarind Tribeca
[ Horine , 4/6/10] This week Sam Sifton files on the new, ginormous Tribeca location of Flatiron Indian restaurant Tamarind, giving it two stars . It may seem a little ostentatious, a little over sized, but he calls it “the best thing to happen to Indian food since Hemant Mathur and Suvir Saran opened Devi in 2004.” …have a drink and consider some curry-laced crab cakes and crisp pomegranate samosas, and the promise beyond them of a menu that can take diners across India in the name of flavor , and represent that nation’s varied cuisine with pride and great skill…cooking from Punjab, Goa, Hyderabad, Madras, Calcutta and Lucknow are all represented. …Nizami keema is a marvel: an appetizing sandwich of grilled and minced lamb, pungent with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and a high pitch of lemon zest, in a small bun
