Favorite Comment of the Week

(Re:  Yesterday’s post titled “The Three Year Old Dinner Party Meme”) I kept reading your headline in my feed reader as a dinner party for three year olds.  And at first I thought, three year olds?  Who wants them over for dinner? Good Year

The year, 2010, started out promising, like the Goodyear blimp rising over the city, a whirring airship ascending slowly and elegantly, graceful in appearance, like a modern dancer. “Happy New Year,” I screamed at midnight on December 31, drunk on champagne at the party at Joyce’s apartment on the Upper East Side.  It would be a

At this point we slept for approximately one hour the whole night, but none the less we wondered the huge Schiphol airport exited and happy, looking for a good and cheap breakfast (you don’t want to start your trip with big spending, you can never know how cheap the Black Label will be in the next Duty Free)

Zhaoqing and Dinghu Shan Reserve — Zhaoqing, Guangdong, China

Jump to the full entry & travel map Zhaoqing, Guangdong, China The four hour bus ride from Zhuhai to Zhaoqing was actually rather pleasant, lovely landscape of rice paddy fields, endless irrigation ponds and vegetable patches; the bus itself was so much nicer than expected, air con and free water. In typical Asia style we were blessed the angelic sound of constant horn tooting, it’s almost like there is a secret horn tooting language we need to learn! Zhaoqing: a 3.9 mil town (I guess a city then) surround by lakes and limestone formations that much up the very popular tourist attraction ‘The Seven Star Crags’.

Indulgence Afternoon — Carnegie, Victoria, Australia

Jump to the full entry & travel map Carnegie, Victoria, Australia Indulgence Afternoon – an invitation went out to all our female friends in need of being Indulged on Sunday 2 May. All who came could enjoy a luxurious spa, a glass of champagne, have a 15 or 30 minute massage and participate in a make-up “makeover’ with SAXX mineral makeup and organics – you can check out their website at www.saxxbeauty.com There was a great deal of laughter (thank you Josie), chatting and indulging that went on during the afternoon – whilst Frank and Neil indulged at the pub away from “all these women”. Many also enjoyed a wonderful relaxing massage – many thanks to Mark Weerdenburg who put in a full afternoon’s work.

liter…o liter us not into temptation…the cobble stones glisten from the rain earlier and the air is fresh…the almost full moon is hidden behind the clouds, as if wrapped in white gauze….I’m very glad not to be in the bar/restaurant business in this town: folks have reverted to having flunkies in the doorway, as if to snag any passers by…the flunkies watch each other to see how they’re doin’….and not well. Did I miss something or is there an new eaterie on 4th Calle, close to Burger King?  El Macarone?
