How ’stuff’ works in Beijing: It seems you’re a racist if you don’t buy it
- Times must be tough for the dealers in Sanlitun given the new marketing tactic a few of them have tried on me of late. Normally, you hear a mumbled “Hey bro, want some stuff?“, walk past, and that’s that. But recently, the spiel — already annoying but thankfully short – took a twist

Tongli times: Biteapita, White Rabbit to open; Bar Blu has new manager
Tongli Studio (map) has seen plenty of changes over the past six months, including the opening of Muse and Cosmo Hot Dogs on the first floor, not to mention Juliette’s next door, and the members-only The Apartment on the third floor. And as noted, White Rabbit is slated to open, likely at the end of

The North Pole: Christmas in the new Sanlitun Village
- Considering Sanlitun Village North is far from being fully open, the management has gone all out on the seasonal decorations: a digit Christmas tree, a building decorated as though it were a wrapped gift, glowing sculptures of polar bears and penguins, and illuminated stars and snow flakes. I popped into the mall itself and found

The Creation art of an Advanced Decorative Concrete Installation
You know what, I guess 7 years ago (or thereabouts), I decided that I wanted to learn everything there was to know about decorative concrete Virginia installations. Therefore, I resolved that I would first, and foremost, need to go and visit a facility that specializes in stamped and decorative concrete installations and designs. So, I found one-Decocreteva.com-and arranged a 3-hour tour

Skype launches into pay per call for business.
Skype just announced its partnership with European directories one of Europe’s largest yellow pages companies to enable its listings with a Skype powered click to call button. This kind of functionality has been available for a while with the browser plugin available for skype that turns any phone number on a web page to a button that launches a call in skype like below. So whats new? The new Skype functionality allows directories to put a link which they or the business pay for instead of the consumer.

It’s My Birthday, so I’ll Blog if I Want to…
Adrienne Irmer, NBC Chicago Street Team Actually, my birthday was last weekend, August 15th, but I was waiting on some pictures from the event photographer to include. As you can well tell, it was quite an affair, but believe me the planning involved would not have been so easy if it weren’t for the venue’s staff and event promoters that evening. If you have ever tried to plan a birthday, bachelorette or new promotion party at a night club, it’s not as easy as one thinks

One Speed, Many Smiles
I’ve been an East Sacramentan for eight years now so we’ve seen quite a few restaurants come and go in the neighborhood. It was bittersweet when Café Milazzo went out of business a couple years ago – it was a casual and comfortable space with friendly service but the food was lacking. We did enjoy $2 Tuesdays when you could get $2 slices of pizza and $2 beers. Little did I know I was in for much, much better pizza within those walls years later… Ever since I heard Rick Mahan, chef/owner of the Waterboy , was opening a new restaurant, I’ve been dying to try it. The store front was wrapped in brown paper for what felt like years. Finally, One Speed Restaurant opened last month and apparently I wasn’t the only one who had been anticipating that great day. We tried three different times to dine at the fully remodeled restaurant space (Café Milazzo diners will be shocked at the transition) but each time we were told it would be a 45-minute wait – just something we can’t do right now with a toddler and an infant even though the atmosphere is absolutely kid appropriate. Therefore, we’ve done takeout twice until our most recent attempt last Sunday, which happened to be our sixth wedding anniversary. We were told again it would be a 45-minute wait and we decided to place our order to go yet again. While we were waiting, my husband had the great idea to entertain our two-year old with a walk down to Burr’s (East Sac’s neighborhood ice cream parlor featuring Vic’s ice cream) to pick up ice cream to go for dessert. Upon the boys return, the one table in the bar opened up and the amazingly friendly staff sat us and served the gnocchi with browned butter and sage (a well-portioned appetizer perfectly cooked for melt-in-your-mouth potato pillows in my favorite decadent sauce), plus the two pizzas (classic Margherita and Rick’s – potato, caramelized onions, pancetta, goat cheese, olives and arugula, OMG) we had ordered piping hot. The ambience, the service, and the food were well worth the wait (the years and the minutes) and we look forward to having One Speed in the neighborhood for many years to come. Algoza, Satara, Murla, Nad, Poongi and Shehnai – The Wind Instruments of Rajasthan
A wind instrument is a musical instrument that contains some type of resonator in which a column of air is set into vibration by the player blowing into a mouthpiece set at the end of the resonator. Prominent in the music of all cultures since prehistoric times, wind instruments exhibit great diversity in structure and sonority. Shehnai – A Wind Instrument of Rajasthan A variety of wind instruments complete the multitude of folk music instruments of Rajasthan which include, Algoza, Satara, Murla, Nad, Poongi and Shehnai. There are other instruments like Morchang (Jewish Harp) that are unique additions to the great repository of folk instruments as they are unlike any instruments found anywhere in the world.

Beta Launch of FeedmailPro.com! (With Demo VIDEO)
This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series FeedmailPro.com Last week I told you about a new project I was working on, and I wanted to give you a sneak peak at how it’s going! WARNING: this is a beta launch, and the site is still being developed. So I DON’T recommend you start using it for your main newsletter or move your list over yet. This is just for testing purposes. I also ask that you don’t post about it anywhere else yet. I want to keep the beta launch small and manageable (besides, it will be much more profitable for you to post about it once I have the affiliate program set up!) Lots of things will be changing going forward. A couple points worth mentioning: 1.

Exploring Cape Town, South Africa
Following a recent visit to South Africa, Mark ended up in Cape Town after a week-long drive along the Garden Route: “South Africa is such a diverse country that a drive through part of it turned out to be really rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable. I’d never done a driving holiday before, but I really liked the flexibility and independence, being able to go where we wanted, when we wanted. Picnics on the beach for breakfast (as dolphins swam past on one morning!), seafront cafes for a quick break, stops to take in the view over False Bay to the Cape of Good Hope or to see the penguins at Betty’s Bay, just because we wanted to! We’d driven about 1500 km from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town, via Knysna, Wilderness, Arniston and Hermanus, arriving in to Cape Town from the winelands at Stellenbosch and the Cape of Good Hope National Park.

Monetization of Mobile Search
There is a fascinating presentation and webinar by the Kelsey Group on the Mobile Local Opportunity . The thing we probably all know but is recapped with detailed statistics in the presentation are: That mobile web and search is being lead by the prolific uptake of smartphones particularly the iPhone and that the focus of usage has a partcularly “Local” focus The share of total mobile search that is local is going to increase 27.8% of total searches in 2008 to 35.1%. What was fascinating though is that local search’s share of revenue is expected to be over 56.1% of mobile search revenue.
