Tightvac: A Very Exciting Year!

Well we have had one exciting year since our last post over a year ago! We have definitely  been remiss in posting updates & at the same time we are so happy that our year has been so full! No worries, we’re back & will be posting again & again… Since our last post in May of 2009, we have been fully engaged in serving our customers with the best service we can provide, enhancing our product line & participating in our community by attending events world wide! The Logo’s you see are from some of the events that we attended this year. Some, like CoffeeFest we attended 4 times and others, like Caffe Culture/SCAE we attended for the first time. In total we were at 18 shows this year including the shows we did with our sister company Tightpac, LOL! WHEW!! We were extremely happy about doing the World Tea Expo, especially since Tighvac’s were originally designed for Tea Storage & over 5 million have been sold globally

Make Your Own Kindle Travel Guide

One of the reasons I bought a Kindle was so that I wouldn’t have to schlep around travel guides on vacation any more. Electronic travel guides are easy to find on Amazon, and even though some of them don’t have photos, they’re still a lot better than lugging around a paper version. Another good use of the Kindle is to carry all those pieces of paper I tend to bring with me on a trip: a copy of my itinerary, some pages from the internet that weren’t in the guide book.

Travel Hat

Being very fair skinned, I need a sun hat when I travel to tropical places.  The wider the brim, the better.  Wide-brimmed hats don’t pack well, and I hate having one more thing to carry on the plane. Since hats in most of the really sunny places I go aren’t too expensive, I’ve just bought them when I got there

Be Sure to Pack Your Ironing Board…

People travel to destinations for many various reasons.  The outdoor enthusiast may choose hiking canoeing, geocaching and maybe even some of more extreme sports like base jumping or hang gliding.  Well, the latest activity for the outdoor enthusiast/adventure seeker is Extreme Ironing! Touted as an extreme sport and a performing art, people simply take their ironing board to an extreme and/or remote location and iron.  Although many of us are just hearing of this craze in the last couple of years, it’s been around for a while.  It was invented in 1997 in England by a man who decided to iron in his garden after a hard day at work.  In 1999, he took an international trip around the world to promote the sport.  Now, through more media attention and a growing number of enthusiasts, the sport has it’s own international extreme ironing contest (in which the quality of ironing affects 50% of your score!).  Extreme Ironing teams even have their own sponsors like Rowenta, the German iron maker, who sponsored a trip in 2004 to have the inventor of the sport tour the US. Have any of you tried this tongue-and-cheek extreme sport?  If not, does it inspire you to plan your next vacation a little differently

Unique Father’s Day Gift Ideas at Low Prices

In the northern hemisphere, Father’s Day always signifies the beginning of summer. Gift ideas abound relating to summer activities that Dad would appreciate – be it for the backyard, a planned vacation or merely to satisfy his tech-toy pleasures. Still for other female gift givers, the standard neckties, socks, golf accessories and office decor remain to be the more meaningful present to hand out to fathers on their recognition day.

Kalencom Sales Help Oil Spill Relief.

The company Kalencom has been based out of New Orleans for 35 years.  As such, they have experienced their share of devastation from natural disasters. They lost an entire warehouse during Hurricane Katrina.  Monica Kalozdi, Kalencom owner, states, “We made the decision to return and rebuild our business in New Orleans because our ties to the city and state are extremely strong.” So when the company heard about the oil spill and the desolating affects it is having on Louisiana’s wetlands and animal life, Kalencom (and its division Hadaki) decided to take action.  During the entire month of June, 10% of all sales will be donated to the Audubon Nature Institute.
