Total Expenses Living In Buenos Aires Last Month: $1,018
This entry is part 5 of 5 in the series Living Abroad I just finished doing my financial statements for last month, and was pretty happy when I noticed that it only cost a total of $1,018 USD for me to live and work in Buenos Aires last month! That’s really cheap, certainly much cheaper than living in the U.S. This proves the point I wrote about a while back , which is that it really isn’t that expensive to travel the world if you do it right. How can you afford to travel the world

One night in Perez
This Perez Hilton guy is probably the biggest clam on the planet. First he rips Miss California Carrie Prejean for her response to Hilton’s gay marriage question at the Miss USA Pageant. I’m not a bleeding heart liberal by any means, but I don’t necessarily have issues with gay marriage. Marriage in general is kind of a joke isn’t it? Straight people have butchered the fuck out of it, so why not let gay people give it a go. Doesn’t bother me at all. That being said, I still can’t find anything wrong with what this girl said. She responded on the spot and was honest and articulate. Then last night in Toronto, Perez throws down with Will.I.Am of the black eyed peas’ posse after Hilton allegedly spouts “You’re not a fucking artist, you’re a fucking faggot.” Someone explain this to me. How does this hypocrite doorknob use the phrase “fucking faggot” in public and in a hateful manner AFTER ruining Carrie Prejeans dreams/future for simply not having the same beliefs? How are other gay people feeling about this? Grizz? Kidding. But really. Doesn’t that kind of under-mind the equality movement? Some hotshot cross-dresser who paint-shopped his way into credibility is blurting out hate speech like it’s no big deal. Perez Hilton is a joke who takes advantage of society being so fucking backwards that it holds Prejeans comments over the flames more than Perez screaming in the streets of Toronto. -the pun was kind of intended by the way. It’s ok though, I have gay friends. -CB

Checking Out the Summer Select Prix Fixe Menu in The Dining Room
After I blogged about the Chocolate Afternoon Tea at the Langham Hotel , I was invited back to check out the Summer Select Prix Fixe Menu at their restaurant, The Dining Room. Again, I have to say thanks to Tara of When Tara Met Blog and the Langham Hotel . Given that The Dining Room was the only hotel restaurant to receive a Michelin star in 2008 under Executive Chef, Craig Strong, I was really looking forward to the meal; however, I should note that by the time I dined at The Dining Room, Chef Strong had taken a new position with Montage Hotels in Laguna Beach

She needs to STOP! STOP.WITH.THE.FACE.WORK!
Is it just me, or is Paris Hilton quickly turning into a blonde hair, (fake) green-eyed Micheal Jackson? Seriously! Every time I see her, she looks different. For starters, her nose is disappearing. She doesn’t even look real any longer. She looks like a wax figure. Speaking of — her wax figure looks more like the “real” Paris Hilton. Well, comparatively. London attracts 26m visitors in 2008
Hotels in London could be busy this year if booming tourism numbers from 2008 are any indication of this year’s visitor levels. Data released by Visit London highlights that more than 26 million visitors headed to the capital last year, spending some £10.5 billion. It is thought that this increase in visitors, which was 550,000 more than the previous 12 months, was prompted by the fall in sterling’s value against the euro and dollar, in addition to more people taking domestic holidays due to the recession.

Hilton with a Difference
Hiltons are your standard pricey, business hotels. Generally quite consistent, you’re unlikely to be let down. But I think I’ve found a Hilton with a difference. Bangkok is inundated with sexy and stylish hotels. Although other hotels such as Mandarin Oriental and Lebua State Tower offered much more luxury and posh novelty, there was something that shined at The Millenium Hilton on Charoennakorn Road. The people. Thai people are unparalleled when it comes to the service industry technique. At the Millenium Hilton, they were flawless. When I stepped into the executive lounge for a quick drink before going to the Night Bazaar, a very polite and unfamiliar member of staff greeted me by name and offered me a Bloody Mary. I realised at that she had taken the time to recall exactly what I had been drinking at the bar the night before. This kind of occurance became standard during my stay.

How to Build Trust in Social Marketing: Wellness
Writer Anne Morrow Lindbergh, in her 1955 classic Gift from the Sea: An answer to the conflicts in our lives , talks about the delicate Argonauta, the paper nautilus. A rare and feather light egg case – not a shell at all, it is a “cradle for the young, held in the arms of the mother argonaut who floats with it to the surface, where the eggs hatch and the young swim away. Then the mother argonaut leaves her shell and starts another life. Mrs.

Songkran on Phuket
Songkran on Phuket is one of the most fun few days of the year and is based on the birthday of Bhudda and celebration that ensues revolves around throwing as much water over people as you can. If you go along the roads into cat on the 13th of April you will be sprayed, covered, shot at by water cannons off and thoroughly drenched in a good humoured display of brotherly for affection all because her daughter was born over 2500 years ago on this day. Traditionally a few drops of water were dropped on to the hands of monks and the Elders of the village

Hotel Check-In blog checks in with Frits
Hotel Check-In is one of my favorite hotel-related blogs out there, if not my absolute favorite. It’s led by their chief concierge, Barbara DeLollis, who has been covering business travel for over half a decade. Not only does Barbara blog about the latest promos across all the major hotels along with other major news and development in the industry, she is also hosting monthly conversations with CEOs of major hotel chains. These posts are part of a monthly series called, “Checking in with the Chief.” All last week, Hotel Check-In put up some fantastic posts on the thoughts of Starwood’s CEO, Frits van Paasschen. Together they discussed and blogged about everything from Starwood’s newest SPG promotion offering free weekend nights to keeping green a top priority for Starwood Hotels. GREAT JOB, Barbara. Keep up the awesome work! I’ve linked all of her Frits posts below with a brief excerpt so you know what to expect in each .
