Mancano pochi giorni all’evento più atteso dai senesi… il Palio! Ancora oggi, nel 2009, una città come Siena è fortemente legata alle sue tradizioni e al suo passato a tal punto da vivere 363 giorni l’anno in attesa delle due date del Palio: il 2 luglio (Palio di Provenzano) e il 16 agosto (Palio dell’Assunta) . Per i senesi non è soltanto un “gioco” in costume, o una corsa di cavalli: la vita di contrada è una cosa molto seria e lo capirete nei giorni immediatamente precedenti alla gara, quando vedrete l’attività febbrile di tutti gli abitanti, le cene per strada, le prove dei tamburini, e le iniziative che ruotano intorno ai veri protagonisti del palio: i cavalli, come ad esempio la benedezione del cavallo nell’oratorio di contrada. Nella giornata del Palio il corteo storico con il passaggio del “carroccio” regala sempre grandi emozioni ancor prima che inizi la gara.
