Jump to the full entry & travel map Zhaoqing, Guangdong, China The four hour bus ride from Zhuhai to Zhaoqing was actually rather pleasant, lovely landscape of rice paddy fields, endless irrigation ponds and vegetable patches; the bus itself was so much nicer than expected, air con and free water. In typical Asia style we were blessed the angelic sound of constant horn tooting, it’s almost like there is a secret horn tooting language we need to learn! Zhaoqing: a 3.9 mil town (I guess a city then) surround by lakes and limestone formations that much up the very popular tourist attraction ‘The Seven Star Crags’.

Even when we went through Chicago with road construction all around us and 2 1/2 hours in traffic it was a great day! We had beautiful weather – even the 90 degree temperature while sitting in traffic was bearable! We are on vacation! The most exciting part of the day was pushing Porter’s cycle everytime we stopped. We had to push it to get it started! It was REALLY EXCITING when we had to push it when on route 80 in CHICAGO traffic! It caused a “little” road rage, but nothing serious. We arrived in Rockford about 7:30 PM and felt we made a lot of ground today considering we haven’t ridden that long of a distance in a very long time.

I am working on my laptop and I notice her watching me every time she looks through the window over my shoulder. She seems to be a good lady, pleasant to be with and sweet, and I admire her delicate hands when she offers me a wet tissue.

Road tripped it down 17 hr drive away to Florida where myself and 11 others stayed in an amazing house right on the beach. Florida is known as ‘The Sunshine State’ of America, just like QLD and while it was pretty good, It just doesn’t compare to SUNNY QLD! Travelling to the USA has given me a great perspective on how blessed we are to live in QLD, I really took it for granted out of ignorance haha

Jump to the full entry & travel map Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia Brisbane to Hervey Bay Brisbane is terrible for roadworks and the worst place we have encountered in Oz for traffic. Pretty much the entire urban run in to the city (and it’s a real long run) was horrible bumper to bumper and at times down to less than 20kph. Avoid Brisbane just for the inability of the city traffic management to sort itself out! Once you pass Brisbane the Bruce Highway takes over and it is a pleasant run up the coast.
