Laid back Luang Prabang – Luang Prabang, Lao Peoples Dem Rep
Jump to the full entry & travel map Luang Prabang, Lao Peoples Dem Rep We left Chang Mai bound for Lao on Saturday night. After one night in a guesthouse on the Thai side of the Mekong river we were taken across the river to the Laos side for the beginning of the 2 day journey by slow boat to Luang Prabang. The boat was really long – about 80m but only about 3m wide and it was packed full of tourists, locals, chickens, fish and sacks of rice!! It was a lovely trip through the Mekong river valley past the hills and cliff faces dotted with riverside villages

Churchgate – Mumbai, India
Jump to the full entry & travel map Mumbai, India Churchgate is an area of Mumbai, i like Churchgate – there are many colonial bulidings here, parks, looks over the sea and much different feel here to whaere my hotel is. The Getway to India is here , looking out of the sea, Quite impressive and very much a tourist attraction as is the Taj Mahal Hotel There is also Marine Drive (Perals Necklace) – it was good to chill out with a Kingfisher and look out over the night sea. (not a bad life) Leopolds Cafe This is one of the cafes that was attacked in the Mumbai terroriist attack, the bullet holes are still visible in the walls

Jump to the full entry & travel map Outer Banks, North Carolina, United States Camping at the Outer Banks, North Carolina. when Erika, my friend, travels, her stories would sound something like this:”we went camping, there was a swimming pool, we hiked…barbecued…the kids had a great time…we went to Atlantic city, we relaxed on the beach, i read my books, it was real nice…” my trips, on the other hand, would go almost always like this:”we took the road and we were sleepy and i got stuck driving most of the time while Mounir fell asleep…ready, we went into the water just to be electrocuted by its coldness…the bathroom were too far and the seawater too cold

Back to the City – Antalya, Antalya, Turkey
Jump to the full entry & travel map Antalya, Antalya, Turkey Yesterday was a very productive day. We got out to the field with only a little light creeping over the horizon. I had to stop off to make a brief call home, and when I returned to the site, I was informed that we had 11 barn swallows! This was unexpected, as swallows generally fly high in the mornings and only swoop low enough during their feeding later in the day to encounter our nets.

As rise in variety of the internal hard drives it’s really became difficult for the buyers to decide on the particular hard drive for their system

Single White Girls Wanted @ The Kama Sutra Temples – Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, India
Jump to the full entry & travel map Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, India Nadine caught the swine flu symptoms for a couple of days but we enjoyed our last bit of time in Varanasi lounging around the ghats, making conversation with spiritual types, saying our good-byes to our new friends and buying them gifts, sitting around with threads tied to our toes making macrame jewellery and doing a lulu hair wrap dreadlock extension workshop. We each learned to put a dreadlock extension in each other’s hair then cut it out when it was finished.

Eating soup on a rollercoaster – Bangkok, Thailand
Jump to the full entry & travel map Bangkok, Thailand Just a quick update to say friday was a bit of a nothing day because we didn’t want to get to hot and sweaty before going to the train station. So we mostly chilled out at the hotel playing pool and doing some research on what to do in Chiang Mia. We headed to the train station with loads of time to spare and got a little base set-up so one of us could wander off and the other watch the bags, so we didn’t have to crash into people all the time

Day 7 quick update, more to come! – Sodus, New York, United States
Jump to the full entry & travel map Sodus, New York, United States Distance: 36 miles We’re in our tents tonight cause it’s raining and mosquito-y out, yuck! We don’t know what the Gatorade count is right now because Emily is the official counter and she’s in her own tent. As for Alexis’s bike she ended up needing to replace 10 spokes! The bike place we went to, Murdock’s, as this really great philosophy about people traveling on bikes get free things! So they gave us the spokes for free, and took the free wheel off and offered to do the wheel but Dave and the girls wanted to do it. So we didn’t get on the road until 11:27 this morning, a late start but we think we did a good job anyway.

Village rivalries and mucky in Yamok – Yamok, East Sepik, Papua New Guinea
Jump to the full entry & travel map Yamok, East Sepik, Papua New Guinea After a good breakfast, we met Albert, our guide for the next two days. We left our bags and passports at the Wewak Boutique Hotel, then piled into a double-cab truck: Paul next to the driver; me and the kids in the second seat; Albert and Chris (another guide) in the open back. We were quickly outside of town – I had been amazed by the lack of road signs on all the roads around PNG.

Today we hit our second country and we just barely made it across the river with our stomachs still in tact but I’ll get to that in a second. We had the morning free to roam through BsAs so Kira, Shaun, Laura and I decided to go see Eva Peron at La Recoleta Cemetery. We walked a pretty decent distance I’d say around 30 blocks to get to the cemetery
