Having arranged with the concierge a boat trip with “Buquebus” to Uruguay, a little late as usual we got into the taxi believing everything was going swimmingly. Then, just as we were turning up to the port, the concierge was on the intercom of the taxi driver telling us we had forgotten the tickets.

Jump to the full entry & travel map Siem Reap, Cambodia Day1: 7th Nov Arrived Siem Reap at about 3 p.m by car after 6 hours ride from Phnom Penh.Checked into the Borei Angkor.Took two deluxe rooms booked through Agoda. Rooms are good size and clean.Poor lighting in room and bathroom.Towels are old and have lost the fluffs.Internet connection erratic.Otherwise, rooms are quite comfortable if these minor irritations can be rectified.Location not close to other conveniences.About 10 minutes ride to downtown, where all the actions are. Too tired to do anything.Retired early.

We walked up the front up towards the The National Art Museum of Catalonia, instead of having to walk up the hundreds of stairs to get to the top, they had conveniently created escalators for us to use We then walked along the roads and past the Plaza de Cataluna and went to Pablo Picasso’s museum, which was another highlight of our trip

Jump to the full entry & travel map Leh, Kashmir, India The mad ladies Tulasi and Tenzin Samten decided to go on another hardcore adventure with their beloved Mono Loco monkey who had come out of his crazy second mum’s pink handbag and was keen to get out into the Himalayas again, he had such a fabulous time in Nepal on his last trek. This time i planned the trek for us three myself and even though i was battling a severe chest infection, i decided that the show must go on, the mountains were calling and we had to go.

We drove to the airport where he was flying in from Tauranga via Wellington. His plane arrived on time and after finding our way out of the maze that was Nelson airport we were on our way.

Keep you all up to date we are now in Singapore staying at the most amazing hotel that feels great when we have ben in jungle for a long time! We travelled 24 hours to get here but it’s stunning! We are just off to get a singapore sling cocktail and some snacks! My mosquito net is out again! However it’s not to keep just the mozzies from biting me but also my wife! Hayley will write something longer no doubt but I have better things to be doing than sitting on it holidays sending emails all day! Only because it takes me 2 hours to type! Luckily H is here! I’ve been running around this last week trying to complete everything I put on my ‘Must-Do’ list; and with only two days left, I’m feeling fairly confident that, yes, I will complete all tasks as assigned! However, I do have one (minor) concern at this point: I left getting my visa for entry into Indonesia ’til the last minute! Although, when I called the Consulate this evening (yep, after 5pm), the gentleman on the other end was gracious and helped me somewhat. I have to call back Monday morning (yep, the 16th, the day I’m leaving) to see if we can remedy my forgetfulness here or in-country (they allow on-arrival visas, thankfully!)

Jump to the full entry & travel map Foz de Iguacu, State of Parana, Brazil From Paraty we took our first overnight bus to the Iguassu Falls, on the border of Brazil – Argentina and Paraguay. Not the best nights sleep we’d ever had but well worth the journey when we got to the falls. The first afternoon we spent on the Brazilian side, which has the best views and various viewing platforms and trails, and the 2nd day we spent on the Argentinian side which was absolutely amazing

Greeted like not-so-minor royalty by the general manager we were quickly introduced to our charming butler (yes, butler…) on arrival. People on either side pressed cards into my sweaty palm (it is 29 degrees out!) with a breathless “should you need anything…” or “if we can make you any more welcome…” For some reason, these lovely people were and are under the illusion I’m some kind of VIP.

Jump to the full entry & travel map Cinque Terre, Liguria, Italy Cinque Terre is Italian for “five lands” and is a collection of the most idyllic Mediterranean villages, all tucked into a dramatic and rugged hillside; it’s an Italian National Park and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Driving through the towns isn’t permitted (so glad) but there is an 11 mile trail that connects them and if the weather is dry, they are passable and absolutely gorgeous

Jump to the full entry & travel map Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 09年十月份的某一天下午，接到堂姐打来的电话， 当我一听到堂姐说二姑丈去世了的消息就吓了一跳和不敢相信？ 以为堂姐是在跟我开玩笑吧了还一直追问她是不是真实的？？？ 当她重复讲了几次我才相信二姑丈已去世了事实， 不是我不信堂姐只是觉得这件事很晴天霹雳。 二姑丈才大约应该有五十多岁吧！ 真是天意弄人那么快就离别了， 要我怎么相信一个好人那么快就走了呢？ 不是说好人一定会没事的吗？ 相信每个人一定会有离别的一天其实也不必伤感。 只要开开心心地过每一天就好了，别带着遗憾而过。

Jump to the full entry & travel map Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India Arriving four and a half hours late wasnt exactly the best start to the day but at least we had a better nights sleep on the train in a slightly higher class with no screaming children! After dringin around for an hour and a half, we finally found somewhere decent to stay and booked ourselves on a boat trip at sunset down the Ganges. We travelled past a mini burning ghat, where they cremate the dead and past a larger one further down then sailed back to watch the Aarti ceremony, which is when light from wicks soaked in purified butter are offered to the gods.
