Start as we mean to go on – wine anyone? — Nelson, South Island, New Zealand
Jump to the full entry & travel map Nelson, South Island, New Zealand We left Abel Tasman and took the short drive to Nelson to pick up a Frisbee (Nic’s flatmate from Uni) who is now living in NZ and was spending a weeks holiday with us. We drove to the airport where he was flying in from Tauranga via Wellington. His plane arrived on time and after finding our way out of the maze that was Nelson airport we were on our way.

Preparations — Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Jump to the full entry & travel map Boston, Massachusetts, United States So true to form. I’ve been running around this last week trying to complete everything I put on my ‘Must-Do’ list; and with only two days left, I’m feeling fairly confident that, yes, I will complete all tasks as assigned! However, I do have one (minor) concern at this point: I left getting my visa for entry into Indonesia ’til the last minute! Although, when I called the Consulate this evening (yep, after 5pm), the gentleman on the other end was gracious and helped me somewhat. I have to call back Monday morning (yep, the 16th, the day I’m leaving) to see if we can remedy my forgetfulness here or in-country (they allow on-arrival visas, thankfully!)

Water water everywhere…… — Foz de Iguacu, State of Parana, Brazil
Jump to the full entry & travel map Foz de Iguacu, State of Parana, Brazil From Paraty we took our first overnight bus to the Iguassu Falls, on the border of Brazil – Argentina and Paraguay. Not the best nights sleep we’d ever had but well worth the journey when we got to the falls. The first afternoon we spent on the Brazilian side, which has the best views and various viewing platforms and trails, and the 2nd day we spent on the Argentinian side which was absolutely amazing

Don’t cry for me Argentina! — Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina
Jump to the full entry & travel map Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina OMG! This place is amazing! Greeted like not-so-minor royalty by the general manager we were quickly introduced to our charming butler (yes, butler…) on arrival. People on either side pressed cards into my sweaty palm (it is 29 degrees out!) with a breathless “should you need anything…” or “if we can make you any more welcome…” For some reason, these lovely people were and are under the illusion I’m some kind of VIP.

Hiking on the Mediterranean — Cinque Terre, Liguria, Italy
Jump to the full entry & travel map Cinque Terre, Liguria, Italy Cinque Terre is Italian for “five lands” and is a collection of the most idyllic Mediterranean villages, all tucked into a dramatic and rugged hillside; it’s an Italian National Park and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Driving through the towns isn’t permitted (so glad) but there is an 11 mile trail that connects them and if the weather is dry, they are passable and absolutely gorgeous

离别 — Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Jump to the full entry & travel map Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Quick Trip Down the Ganges — Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India
Jump to the full entry & travel map Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India Arriving four and a half hours late wasnt exactly the best start to the day but at least we had a better nights sleep on the train in a slightly higher class with no screaming children! After dringin around for an hour and a half, we finally found somewhere decent to stay and booked ourselves on a boat trip at sunset down the Ganges. We travelled past a mini burning ghat, where they cremate the dead and past a larger one further down then sailed back to watch the Aarti ceremony, which is when light from wicks soaked in purified butter are offered to the gods.

Angry Agra! — Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India
Jump to the full entry & travel map Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India Having heard that Agra isnt one of the nicest places to stay, we decided to make it a quick day trip before heading to Varanasi. On arrival, it seemed to be a lot more aggressive with regards to people trying to make money out of us, with rickshaw drivers wanting to take us on detours to shops for their commission, but seeing as were hot and tired, it really tested our patience and they soon took us to where we wanted to go when they saw our tempers flaring!! After a quick breakfast, we headed over to the Taj Mahal to be shocked by the 750 Rs entrance fee, which is pretty much what we budget for each day for our daily living costs, in comparison to the 50 Rs entrance fee for the indian residents! It was unsurprisingly packed inside the surrounding grounds and it was a jaw dropping moment when we were stood in front of it

The bus we were to get on to go to the park was very old looking and comfort was not number one priority, but the journey was OK and after an hour we had reached our destination

Jongpil Jung: How I Saved Atlantica! — Changzhou, Jiangsu, China
Jump to the full entry & travel map Changzhou, Jiangsu, China There is always a great deal to learn from a game that has achieved considerable success, like the story told by Blizzard at the China Game Developers Conference (CGDC); however, there is also a lot to be learned from a failed game, especially one which was doomed to fail yet successfully saved. Though people may be reluctant to tell about their mistakes and Atlantica Online Gold failures, these stories are no less instructive and interesting for the industry than the successful ones, particularly about how we can magically turn a failure into success Atlantica Gold .

The World’s Most Dangerous Day I got a hero from a dangerous time and place His calming reaction saved the entire human race The Soviet diesel sub made it’s way though US and NATO lines The move of trespass was met with depth charge fines The sub was shocked, shook, and grinded The captain Valentin Savitsky’s anger left him absent minded Their pay load would have been the angel of death for most of earth Orders to fire the nuke tipped missiles to prove their worth “There’s a war going on up there!” might have echoed from the deep “Take out as many as we can before our eternal sleep” Words to fire on the tip of his tongue Of Vasily Arkhipov’s sweet voice was sung To not fire that nuke on the worlds most dangerous day Leaving Moscow, New York, and humanity safe, miles away…

Jump to the full entry & travel map Galapagos Islands, Ecuador Excitement started early today as, during breakfast, crew member Jonathan spotted what he thought were whales in the distance. Within a couple of minutes, we’d all jumped in the pangas to try to get closer to them. It turned out they were in fact dolphins, and we got pretty darn close as they swam and lept around us in a feeding frenzy (like you see on Blue Planet, where they herd the fish)
