GIVEAWAY: Filipino Food Love and Upcoming Events
CONTEST CLOSED: Congrats to Chris G and trixtersme who will be joining me for The Manila Machine Truck Tasting! Being a Filipino Blogger, I always try to support Filipino food efforts in Los Angeles, primarily through meals in Filipino restaurant hosted through my dining group , as a way to introduce people to what Filipino food is all about. Filipino food is still very much an untapped cuisine and is usually the most associated with just lumpia (egg rolls) and pansit (noodles).

Kicked out of my own Google Group!
This is unfortunate. I no longer have access to the Google Group I use for support http://groups.google.com/group/feedmailpro on FeedmailPro.com. It seems there is a known bug with Groups where people are getting unsubscribed

Not Making the Climb to the Caribbean Treehouse Anytime Soon
A few years ago, I heard about the Caribbean Treehouse, a restaurant that serves food from Trinidad and Tobago, but it wasn’t until I saw a post on the Man Bites World blog that I saw pictures of any of the food itself. Although the descriptions sounded tasty, it still took me awhile to finally check it out for myself and when I did, I brought along a group of friends along, with one of them being Trini born and bred

A Business Model For Twitter

Fat Acceptance Gone Too Far
Lately there have been several posts in which the writers were outraged at this new Fat Acceptance movement. Really, how dare anyone tell those overweight people that they can be happy with their bodies? At first, I was defending the right of others to do as they please, but an incident occurred recently that punched

Just arrived in Barcelona!
Despite feeling nervous this morning before leaving the UK, I am now in Barcelona and I am delighted to say that the journey went very smoothly. I found myself in the city centre after a short and comfortable 30 minute journey on the ‘Aerobus’ from outside the airport costing only €4.75! Once I arrived into “Plaza Catalunya” it was a short walk to my apartment, which is located very centrally and is just on the edge of the stunning “El Barrio Gotico.” The apartment is very stylish, I have a large bedroom with a double bed and a desk, a bathroom with a bath and a shower and the walls are covered with beautiful paintings and traditional Spanish style rugs.

Old Pasadena Restaurant Week: Dinner at Vertical Bistro
Except for occasional forays, Pasadena hasn’t been a regular dining destination for me for awhile now, but after seeing Gourmet Pig’s blog post about the June Old Town Pasadena Restaurant Week , I thought this would be a great chance to check out a couple new-to-me restaurants. With the prices running $25 to $35 for 3 course meals in selected restaurants, I would have been a fool not to. On the first day of this promotion, I took my dining group to Vertical Wine Bistro.

"Authentic Italian Food" Restaurant Promotion
Last week, I was invited by Monique Ianos from Bread and Butter PR to attend a luncheon that was going to feature dishes that were going to be part of special pre fixe menus from six of LA’s top Italian restaurants. The restaurants were hand picked by The Italian Trade Commission and Italy-America Chamber of Commerce West based on a series of parameters including quality and authenticity of Italian products used in the kitchen, the presence of Italian chefs and sommeliers, and the presentation of an Italian-centric wine list.

At Least the Desserts Were Good at Mofongos
Ever since I read about Mofongos, LA’s only Puerto Rican restaurant from the Rants and Crave blog , I’ve been wanting to try their food, especially the mofongo dish the restaurant is named for. So I gathered a group of curious diners from my dining group for a trek to North Hollywood to see what the fuss was all about. For our meal, we shared a number of dishes, family-style, that started with Bacalaítos.
