Are Blog Commenters “Real” Writers?
A few weeks ago, there was a raucous argument online over the unimportant question of the day — are bloggers “real” writers? I have my own thoughts about this, but I’m all about spreading the love, so for all practical … Continue reading →

UniversityTutor Races Past 200 Paying Customers
UniversityTutor.com hit a little milestone this past week: 200 paying tutors! At $10/month each this might not sound like a lot (and it really isn’t) but for me it was pretty cool because this was my original goal for myself way back when I first started the site , more than 2 years ago. In fact, (this is really silly but) during that entire time I’ve had this little stickie note on my computer desktop with that goal written down: When I started I thought it would take maybe 6 months tops to reach this.

Finally! I’ve Had a Taste of Chef Walter Manzke. Well, at least of his Tasting Menu at Test Kitchen
You know how it is. You hear off and on about how good a particular Chef is and just when you’re getting around to possibly making a reservation at the restaurant he’s an Executive Chef at, he leaves the restaurant

The Hidden Gem (at least it was to me) that is the Pizza of Terroni
When it comes to pizza in LA, I definitely have my favorite places, from Zelo in Arcadia, Pizzeria Mozza in LA to Bollini’s in Monterey Park and recently, I fell in love with the flatbread-style pizza at The Hollywood Corner . But when my friend, Wasima, told me of Terroni, a Southern Italian restaurant that serves pizza that’s the closest to the pizza she’s had in Italy, it piqued my interest and Terroni went to the top of my must try list. 10 things not to miss in Milan!
Every year thousands of tourists, students and business travellers come to Milan. Be it for work, pleasure, or both (for example studying at Scuola Leonardo Da Vinci ), you should take advantage of certain attractions during your time in this amazing city. Some may seem obvious, you will find them in guide books or already know about them, but other destinations are hidden gems and Scuola Leonardo Da Vinci wants you to know about them! 1) See Milan from the top of the Duomo : The Duomo is breathtaking from the outside but you have to go to the top to fully appreciate it. At the top you can walk among the structure itself, admire its intricacies, and if the sky is clear, you have before you an amazing view of the city. Many people don’t realize that you can go to the top and yes, there is an elevator. Cost: 5€ stairs, 8€ elevator

Mac OS XI (Eleven)
Random thought for the day: for the next version of Apple’s operating system, they should really think about synching all your programs, settings, etc across ALL your computers. Right now I carry a MacBook Pro between home and work every day because maintaining all my programs, files, and settings on two separate machines would simply be far too much work.

Tableside Prepared Spicy Chicken at Ma Po Dak Gal Bi
When it comes to food prepared tableside, it’s just one of my favorite ways to have a meal. There’s just something fun about seeing your dinner prepared and cooked in front of you before being able to enjoy it. What I find interesting is that quite a lot of this tableside food preparation seems to show up at Korean restaurants with the meal usually ending with fried rice.

Make Building Blocks
I like the idea of a business that creates building blocks. In other words, your product may not be directly useful to customers, but it allows other people to create useful products . Amazon EC2 is a a building block.

My Food Journey from Ludo Bites 3.0 to 5.0
I find myself being a late bloomer at times and in the case of the whole phenomenon surrounding Ludo Bites , I really didn’t experience any of Chef Ludo Lefebvre’s food until Ludo Bites 3.0 last year at the Royal T Cafe in Culver City. Since then, I’ve made my way to Ludo Bites 4.0 and 5.0, both of which have been at Gram and Papas this year

Great Post By Tony Wright On Cashing Out Of Your Business
Had the pleasure of meeting Tony recently for lunch. Really enjoyed this post he put up: http://www.tonywright.com/2010/rethinking-f-you-money/ Totally agree that the mythical 6-10% return is not being achieved by many these days, and that the real pay off of selling a business can come from the credibility – not the money.

When To Skip The Contracts
I’ve seen a few startups recently who want to have their customers sign contracts to get started. The logic being that you can guarantee recurring income for your business (for the length of the contract) or you’ll have some recourse if the person fails to pay.
